This bag is superbly made. First trip complete and it survived a long pull across one of the roughest cargo ramps out there. I bought this bag as a slightly smaller alternative for shorter trips to my 22” bag with pockets. The bag is spacious and made of the highest quality materials and there is no doubt it will stand the test of time. J hook works great. Pockets and zippers are top notch. The bag actually feels lighter than advertised. Only time will tell, but the extendable handle would be the only thing that seems the slightest bit flimsy. All parts are replaceable so I’m not worried about it. Looking forward to years of use and abuse. actually feels lighter than advertised.

Best flight crew bag on the market. I was a LW owner for many years and after I got the Vortex 21″ five years ago I’ve been hooked. The bag is still going strong while all of my other LW bags would have failed by now and required repair or replacement. I needed a bag that would fit in the tight spaces of a 737 (closet or overhead when DHing), after lots of searching and reading reviews I decided to purchase this bag and I don’t regret because it is PERFECT!.
When compared to the other brand 737 bag (which is discontinued) , the Vortex is a bag that you can tell it will last a lifetime and the fact that you can do the repairs yourself is a big plus.

You can truly count on the Vortex bag to protect your valuables—even in the most extreme situations. My experience is a testament to how exceptionally well engineered and manufactured Vortex bags are.
The night before a trip, I was driving to my crash pad on a wet, snowy interstate when I was rear-ended. My Vortex 22 bag was ejected from my trunk at 75 mph. After my vehicle ended up in a ditch—thankfully without a scratch on me—I searched for my bag but couldn’t find it. Unbeknownst to me, it was still in the flow of traffic.
A few minutes later, a Good Samaritan brought my Vortex 22 bag to the police car that came to my rescue. She apologized for striking my bag at around 70 mph and dragging it several hundred feet before stopping. After removing it from under her car, she returned it to the accident scene, where I was reunited with my bag.
To my surprise, the bag sustained only minimal damage. All of my valuables inside were completely undamaged and dry. The damage was limited to partially shaved corner protectors and back strip protectors, shaved zippers on the back pocket, and slight damage to that pocket. The back plate of the telescoping handle was nearly shaved off; however, the handle functioned perfectly. The aluminum frame was intact, and the wheels rolled smoothly without issue.
After arriving at my crash pad, I wiped off the mud and road salt, and the next day I completed my trip uneventfully.
